Prayers for the conflict in Ukraine

As Christians, one of our responses to crisis is prayer. We hope you will find these prayers helpful as we join with believers all over the world in lifting this tragic situation before God.

From the Book of Alternative Services (p. 677):

O God, it is your will to hold both heaven and earth in a single
peace. Let the design of your great love shine on the waste of
our wraths and sorrows, and give peace to your Church, peace
among nations, peace in our homes, and peace in our hearts;
through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

From the Book of Common Prayer (pp. 50 and 51):
ALMIGHTY God, from whom all thoughts of truth and peace proceed:
Kindle, we pray thee, in the hearts of all men the true love of peace,
and guide with thy pure and peaceable wisdomthose who take counsel
for the nations of the earth; that in tranquility thy kingdom may go forward,
till the earth is filled with the knowledge of thy love; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

ALMIGHTY God and merciful Father, who wouldest have the kingdoms of the world
become the kingdom of thy Son Jesus Christ: Bestow thy blessing, we beseech thee, upon all
who labour for peace and righteousness among the peoples [especially . . . ]; that the day may be
hastened when war shall be no more, and thy will only shall govern the nations upon earth;
through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

A Prayer for Ukraine
God of peace and justice, we pray for the people of Ukraine today.
We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons.
We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow, that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them.
We pray for those with power over war or peace,
For wisdom, discernment and compassion to guide their decisions.
Above all we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear, that you would hold and protect them.
We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.
Amen.
